WHO ARE WE FUNDRAISING FOR?
Sunny Bank in Sittingbourne is a fully inclusive Primary School located within a deprived area of Kent. It supports children with mainstream schooling, as well as offers special educational needs (SEN) to a growing number of children with severe physical impairment and learning disabilities.
Currently the school support children with a range of special needs, including:
Children with mobility impairment and profound learning needs that compromise their safety when walking long distances.
1 child with Beckwith- Weidemann Syndrome, hypoglycaemia
1 child with Cerebral Palsy
1 child with Severe anxiety, ADHD and Tourettes
1 child with profound and multiple learning difficulties
1 child with Severe autism
7 children with speech-language, communication needs, SEMH and anxiety needs, as well as severe ADHD
In September this year, the school will also welcome seven more children with both physical and profound learning needs.
This school’s incredibly caring and inclusive approach does not end in the classroom. Both staff and pupils are heavily involved in supporting the local community, paying special attention to deprived families with financial support for transport, swimming lessons and school trips.
Through the money we raise, we can provide a Sunshine Coach to Sunny Bank Primary that will relieve some of the financial burden of transportation, while ensuring all children have access to a safe, broad and enjoyable curriculum.
